4/27/25 Unification Proposal Vote Outcome
All congregations need to get 2/3 majority to pass. If any congregation votes no, then the proposal fails.
The voters’ meeting was to be immediately preceded by an all-member poll in which the will of the congregation was to be understood. All voters agreed to vote in line with the members’ poll outcomes.
So the proposal failed.
It has been noted that 70% of all involved members wished for this merger to occur. However, the bar for merging was very high and it wasn’t God’s will at this time.
The churches that voted in the positve did meet several times to see what could come of their merging in some way. After three meetings, each church felt in the scenario without the other churches, it made more sense to continue on individually at this time.

Mount Olive St. Paul is working with the WELS Board of Home Missions to renew the ministry located in the middle of the metro and focus on reaching a wider urban audience. The significant problems identified by the M4M work and reports still exist. But many great relationships were formed and each congregation has found new direction
These congregations continue to struggle in their specific ways. But conversations continue to happen and collaborations are still being discussed. Gather WELS TC still sees a need to bring WELS members in the Twin Cities together to keep building relationships and collaborating on ministry here in the city.
Gather WELS TC believes the need for gathering members for Christian community and furthering twin cities ministry has not changed and remains committed to bringing people together outside their own congregational walls to make an impact for the Kingdom in the Twin Cities Metro area by gathering together believers for fellowship and better Twin Cities Metro outreach effectiveness.
